100 Years Old - A Century of Magic! Pre-owned, excellent condition & extremely rare Reversible Art Deco Cartier Brooch Watch in Platinum. This Cartier Ladies Brooch Watch hails from 1925, making it a century old. Finding this jewellery-horology paradox exactly 100 years on from creation makes it all the more special.
The wearer can flip between the watch-pendant's two displays: on one side a beautiful diamond pendant can be showcased, on the other side the original Cartier Paris signed dial from 1925.
The dial also features a 'BTE S.G.D.C.' signature at 6 o'clock - the acronym (Brevette Sans Garantie Du Gouvernement) translates to 'without government guarantee' and is a mention related to patent law. Effective in France between 1840-1968, patents were granted without prior examination, this mention on the dial freed the State from responsibility for the effective functioning of the patented device.
The inner case measures 13mm in width, the width including the pearl boarder measures 21mm, with a 36mm height from top to end of the pearls.
The rectangular center dial/pendant is adorned with a halo of Pearls, strung on a floating boarder, that also serves as a stand to support the inner case when reversed to sit upright, allowing it to function as a desk clock also.
